Lori-Ann
Rickard is
a lawyer and principal in PeopleWealth,
providing retention services to improve
job satisfaction for lawyers. She is
co-author of PeopleWealth’s book, Keeping
Good Lawyers: Best Practices to Create
Career Satisfaction, published by the
ABA Law Practice Management Section
in May 2000. Ms. Rickard is an experienced
public speaker, presenter and educator.
Ms. Rickard received her Bachelor of
Science degree, cum laude, from Eastern
Michigan University in 1983 and her
Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State
University in 1986, where she was a
member of Wayne Law Review. Ms. Rickard
is a member of the State Bar of Michigan,
The Florida Bar and admitted to practice
in several federal courts. Ms. Rickard
was a partner in the Detroit, Michigan
law firm of Clark, Klein & Beaumont
until January 1993 when she became in-house
corporate counsel for St. John Health
System in Detroit. As corporate counsel,
her responsibilities included all areas
of corporate law. She was responsible
for all transactional aspects of a large
corporation including computer, contract
and real estate transactions. She has
also supervised outside counsel pursuant
to a significant outside counsel budget.
Ms.
Rickard then served as Senior Corporate
Compliance Specialist for St. John Health
System whose parent corporation is the
largest catholic health system in the
country. She was responsible for the
compliance needs of a billion dollar
health system. She implemented a broad
based compliance training program for
all of St. John Health System’s 20,000
employees and 2,500 physicians. She
currently works for St. John as a consultant
on a variety of issues. She is a regular
speaker at local organizations on healthcare
subjects.
Ms. Rickard was an assistant teacher of Civil Trial
Advocacy at Wayne State Law School and
continues to judge student legal research
and writing appellate arguments. She
is an active member of the State Bar
of Michigan and the Health Law section.
Ms. Rickard serves on the Michigan State
Bar Special Committee on Quality of
Professional Life. She is also an active
member of the American Bar Association,
American Health Lawyers Association
and the Michigan Society of Health Lawyers.
